    Next Handgun

So I’m trying to see what I need to get as my next handgun. My carry pieces are covered with compact, subcompact, and micro guns, as well as my revolvers.

I’d like to get a 9mm, 45 or 38/357. Not really sure what to get. I was thinking of the Sig P365, but I rented one and had a ton of failures with it, including 11 failure to fires in 100 rounds.

I also considered a Kahr PM/CM9, but I have an XDs that’s almost the same size.

I am also considering a Beretta 92, especially if I could find a compact available somewhere.

This gun will be bought after July 1 when my work reimbursement resets. I just like to obsess and research and pick out my new purchases ahead of time.

I understand... I picked up a deal on some brass in a caliber I don't have a pistol for. Looking myself for something that "fits".

No. It would have to be a 44 Special. Department won’t approve a magnum, so wouldn’t reimburse it.

Not sure I want to add another caliber to stock brass, bullets, dies, and maybe a new powder either.

I've been keeping an eye on the new TPR9. We probably won't get it in Canada this year. Here's another review: https://americanmilitarynews.com/201...inest-handgun/

Do you have a 1911? If not you should get one. Everyone should have at least one 1911.

I have gifted to family just about every one of my firearms over the past 2-3 months. Down to the basics, rife, revolver, 9UC, shotgun. But something keeps pestering me to get my Taurus 357 back from my BL ?? Thinking about trading him my Ruger LCR +P 38spl for the Taurus. The only reason I can come up with, is the Taurus is a 7 shot, 6" barrel --- and the Ruger is a 5 shot 3" barrel.. Not too concerned about the difference in the ammo. Thinking more about the Taurus extra ammo and the barrel length??????

I would take a look at the CZ 75D PCR. This is a metal frame weapon
designed for the Czech police to carry. It is a lighter version of the 75B.
My CZ 75 SP-01 Tactical is a joy to shoot and handle, a world class weapon.
I'm waiting for the PCR to arrive at my local dealers supplier and then one
will be in my gun cabinet.

    Re: Next Handgun

John, I just bought two new handguns and I really love them. Two very different guns, but both great guns. I shyed away from guns made in Turkey for a long time thinking they were junk. And decades ago, some of them really were junk. But then Canik caught my eye and I noticed that almost everyone who owned one--loved it. Until recently, Canik was a sort of hidden treasure (like the Bersa UC9); but now it seems everyone has heard about the Canik striker-fired TP9 ever expanding line of pistols. Unlike all the other strikers out there--this one is a real live honest to goodness improvement over the rest of the striker-crowd.

So, what's better? Just about every freakin' thing about the gun. When I first got my TP9SF Elite, I cleaned it and was amazed at the quality of the finish on the inside where ya usually notice some rough machining or finish. There's not a single rough place on this gun inside or out. I did notice a little creepiness in the trigger pull. But when the slide was off it didn't feel creepy at all, so that helped me narrow down the problem. Found it when I depressed the Firing Pin Block. I replaced the factory spring with a lighter CZ P-07 spring I had left over from CGW and instantly achieved a smooth clean-breaking trigger at about 3 lbs. So I guess it is fully modified now, because that is all I'm going to do to it except shoot the heck out of it from now on.

I like the Warren Tactical sights on the Elite way better than any other sights you get on most factory guns.

WVSurveyor suggested a CZ 75. Good suggestion too. But if you don't want to wait to find a CZ 75 Compact, you can get Canik's CZ 75 Clone. I just got one and it is a quality steel framed gun. My C-100 in .40 S&W weighs almost 36 ounces so it is very pleasant to shoot. It soaks up the recoil really well. Paid $280 for this barely used beast! I cannot get it to malfunction, no matter what I try.

Canik makes this C-100 in a lighter alloy frame if you want a lighter gun, they also make the T-100 and longer T-120 and a P-series that looks a lot like the CZ P-07.

Load on Sunday and double tap for a week and a half!

We can all tell the OP what we'd buy, but only John can decide.

Or, here’s a great idea. Everyone take a week or two, really think about what I should get and then order one and send it to my FFL. I will post their info to have it shipped to. Then you guys can all decide which gun I should have and send it to me!

Man, I think this will really be fun!

I think those will give you unsightly panty lines though. Better to go commando.

I have some gun porn for you. I picked up a Mustang Plus II that is in very good condition! $500 .... which I feel is a fair price.

I love those little mustangs. I have a pocket lite. Doesn’t get carried, but love it and it shoots like a dream.

I would love if Colt would make a 9mm version the size of the P938
