Bersa Thunder 380 magazine won't allow trigger to engage?

So I purchased my first bersa 380 combat and ordered the factory mag with finger rest however when I insert the mag the trigger won't engage? The original one works fine

On that magazine on the starboard (right hand) side on the bottom....there is a little "tit" sticking out that is supposed to engage the trigger safety bar inside the mag well of your Bersa. If it doesn't push it up enough- the safe will not disengage. On your new mag- either that tit is missing or it is too small (no pun intended).
I am assuming you have the mag pushed in all the way and it is seated?

Welcome to Bersa Chat Headhunters. That's a new one on me, but that second picture shows the decocker in down position, which disables the trigger. You didn't do a mitchr & leave it that way when you tried the trigger, did you? That's something that I thought only I would do!

I've tried numerous ways even with safety of and on
The gun has been bought used so not sure why both mags look exactly the same except finger rest?

The original mag for the .380 Thunders had the finger rest. The 8 round flat bottom mag originally came with the .380 CC & recently is being furnished with the standard .380. Either one should work & something with the mag safety, like what Brojohn said must be the problem.

One thing to try- put the mag in that doesn't work- empty of course. With that mag inserted- pull the hammer back, then push up on the bottom of the mag hard and hold it- then try to pull the trigger. If it works- then probably the cut out notch on the mag where the mag release/catch holds the mag in- that notch may be cut too high and may allow the mag to sit too low to engage the trigger safety.

Edit: You should be able to see if one mag sits lower than the other once inserted.

If that is a new mag & all else fails, either return it to place of purchase or give Eagle Imports a call. They are good about making things right.

So the place of purchase says I ordered the wrong mag?

They say I have a compact model?
Every other mag with that upc code shows it should have the tit on it
However the one I got doesn't?
How do I figure this out
