    Veterans Day (Nov 11, 2019)

I display the U.S.Flag 24/7 - 365. The city was nice enough to place a street light at the end of my driveway which illuminates my carport and the flag quite nicely.
Today I put up a new fresh flag (twice annually - Nov and May) since the Texas wind is harsh on them (Been doing this 24 years).

As I raised the new one I recalled that I raised the flag on Iwo Jima in a school or boy scout ceremony around 1956. I portrayed the guy at the tail end that released the flagpole first. So...I go in and say to the wife "did I ever tell you that I raised the flag on Iwo Jima?" Eyebrows raised she responded "Oh, I didn't know you were ever on Iwo Jima!"

Oh well, I really wanted to spend the day in the workshop anyway.

I'm surprised she didn't say she knew you were lying about your age.

You're most welcome, WVS! Truth is, I got paid for what I did. But the heartfelt thanks of our friends and nation for the duty and sacrifice of all who serve in uniform is compensation above and beyond a measly government paycheck.....SIR!

This video works for both Veterans Day & Memorial Day. Sorry, if it starts with an ad, there's a "skip" button.

My grand daughters school has a nice veteran appreciation ceremony every year. About 50 of us there for the ceremony and luncheon.
                  Sorry looks back.
                  Worry looks around.
                  Faith looks up.
