    New Marlin

I bought this Marlin XT-22M, in .22 WMR, last week. I will not get to shoot it until next weekend, but am anticipating good results.

One thing I like about Marlin barrels, they are thick.

Looks good. Give us a range report. Take pictures of your targets.

STILL have not got to the range yet!!! Work keeps getting in the way. I and my brother are going, come hell or high water, next Sunday....he needs to sight in his .30-06 for deer. I will take pictures when I finally get to shoot the dang thing!

I also need to get to the public range this week to check the zero's on my .270 WSM Winchester 70 and also my Tikka T3 Hunter in 30-06 my son is going to use for deer.

Gee, this deer hunting is really going to get in the way of my rimfire activities!

                    Re: New Marlin

Welp, did get to the range to shoot that Marlin, but we ended up going with two of my nephews too. It was raining and kinda crappy out this morning. I was shooting Hornady 30 grain flex-tips @ 50 yards for zero, and the best I could do was 5/8" 4-shot groups. Paper targets were falling off due to some wind and a whole lot of rain.

Sorry, I did not get pictures to verify my groups, but the gun shot well and under better conditions, I think I could do a bit better. MOA at least. I shot some Aguila 40 grain soft point stuff, but it sucked. The best I could do with it was 3/4" @ 50 yards. I could not concentrate well with the other three banging away with their AR's and one AK pistol....damn that thing was loud!

So, maybe when I get back over there and am able to shoot some groups that I am actually proud of, I'll post up some group pics. I shot 50 total rounds, 40 of the Hornady and 10 of the Aguila, through the gun, and there were no malfunctions or trouble loading rounds from the magazines that seem to sometimes plague bolt action rimfire rifles. This rifle came with a 4 & 7 round magazines, and both worked just fine. I am happy with this rifle.

Not bad at all! Betcha when you get a chance to shoot a few more boxes of ammo and can try it without wind, rain or AK's and AR's a-blazin, you might even be surprised what that rifle will do without distractions. I always shoot better whenever there's not a lot of blasting and brass bouncing off of me--but it is good self-defence training!
