    Year of the Cat...again!

    This year:

    Last year:

Same deer stand, same rifle; both bobcats standing the same spot beside the creek--twice.

Amazing! I think these guys are really neat critters. None here in Houston. I lived in Oklahoma twice and saw a lot of them there. Hit one with company car one night and was putting it in plastic bag to. Go get it mounted as perfect hide. Guy stopped and begged and begged for and DA me gave it to him. Still kicking myself! Always wanted one in a display going for quail.

    What is the gun.

Winchester model 70 Featherweight 270 Winchester short magnum. The weird thing is that both Bobcats were standing in the same spot.

Check out this year's wierd but beautiful ears on this cat. A perfect example of Creation's version of "break-up camoflauge". From a distance, this cat's ears would not stand out as cat's ears, but would appear as open spaces behind the cat where the white patches are; thus neither man nor prey would be able to recognize the form or sillouette of a Bobcat's head from a distance. And most of the time, their head is the only part of the Bobcat that is showing as they make a stalk.

I'm a poor man, so shooting cats is as close as I will ever come to an African Safari Adventure. But if you think about it...it is really a lion hunt on a smaller more affordable scale!

Although I wonder if a real encounter with a man-killer with experience might make me tremble a bit. Guess I will just have to pretend feral cats and Bobcats are lions, leopards and tigers...because I will never be able to go on a real Safari. Just wonder how much one is like the other. I'm thinking a cat is a cat is cat. But then the folks over in Africa who have lost family members to lions or been attacked themselves might disagree.
