    Smile on kids face

Out at the range on Saturday a young man (7 year old) sitting near us was fascinated by the shotgun I was patterning.
I asked him if he wanted to try it, he was a bit shy about it and wanted to know if it kicked. Told him it did kick but he would be OK. I asked his dad if it was ok with him, he snickered and replied” I he really wants to try it its ok with me”. I explained to the dad the Bretta Xtrema has a mild recoil.
I gave the dad the gun and a light load shell, he helped his son shoulder the gun and fire it. The kid was grinning from ear to ear about firing a 12 gauge for the first time.

When we take "newbies" to the range almost all of them want to shoot that 12ga. Maybe even more than want to shoot the .45ACP. My 15 year old daughter, not to be out done by the guys, let loose with both barrels on on a 12ga side by side. I am not sure she will ever do it again but there was certainly that smile when the target took 18 peices of 00 buck.
